Macomb County Welcomes Grupo Antolin Facility

On Tuesday, June 19, 2018 local officials, members of the Sterling Heights Regional Chamber of Commerce, a couple hundred GA employees and other persons of influence gathered to celebrate the grand opening of Shelby Antolin, the newest manufacturing facility of Grupo Antolin North America.  Tedesco Building Services was honored to be present at the event representing Gary Tedesco who sits on the Board of Directors for SHRCCI.

Joe McCluskey, the General Manager of Antolin Shelby, welcomed guests to the 368,000 square foot facility that was constructed in a mere 9 months by D’Agostini Companies.  The facility employs nearly 800 people and is the largest manufacturer and employer in Shelby Township.  Gratitude was extended to numerous parties, first and foremost being their customer, FCA.  Other acknowledgements included Shelby Township Supervisor, Rick Stathakis, and Macomb County Executive, Mark Hackel, for helping to make the process a smooth one and area partners aiding to locate top talent needed to staff the building: Express Employment and Macomb Community College.

Rick Stathakis noted there is now 1.2 million square feet of occupied space within Cherry Creek Corporate Park along Shelby Parkway between 23 and 24 Mile Roads.  Other businesses within the park include Cosworth, JVIS, Kuka, Flex-N-Gate and Epic Engineering.

Mark Hackel focused his message towards the fantastic workforce of Antolin Shelby and Macomb County as a whole, citing this as a driving force in the decision of businesses to locate within the area.

Ernesto Antolin Arribas, Chairman of Grupo Antolin and Pablo Baroja, President of Asia Pacific Grupo Antolin also made the trip to Michigan to participate in the festivities.  Both men highlighted the impressive accomplishments the company has achieved since its founding in 1950 in Burgos, Spain.  Grupo Antolin started out as a mechanics garage and today is a leading developer, designer and manufacturer of interior components for the automotive industry with operations in 25 countries, 151 facilities and 28,000 employees worldwide. Talk about a powerhouse of a multi-national player!

Mr. Antolin talked about how proud the company is to have invested $70,000,000 in the Shelby plant which produces the interior and overhead components for the 2019 Ram pick-up truck. The plant is on track to produce 1500 vehicles per day.
